Neuropsychology Consultants, PLLC is a group of psychologists devoted to providing first quality care and consultation services to a broad range of clients. Among our group, we have more than 40 years of licensed experience. Whether you are a family member concerned about your loved one’s memory problems, a parent dealing with your child’s struggles in school, or an attorney needing assistance in dealing with cognitive and/or mental health aspects of a case, we offer assessment and recommendations within an informed, professional, ethical, and caring setting.
Neuropsychology is the study of human behavior as it relates to brain function and serious mental illness. Often times individuals may experience trouble with their thinking and emotions, and we work to determine the underlying cause of these difficulties. Our practice provides assessment to a wide variety of patients with many different issues, such as Alzheimer’s disease, head injury, stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disorders, addiction, depression, schizophrenia, posttraumatic stress disorder and chronic pain, among others. Psychotherapy is also available on an as-needed basis.
Typically our involvement in a case begins with a thorough evaluation, which may include record review, clinical interviewing, mental status observations, neurocognitive assessment, and mood and personality assessment. For cases that include a legal component, we also focus on obtaining reliable and valid data pertinent to the questions being asked. Our assessment process is followed by feedback to the referral source, and often to patients and their families as well. We believe it is important to communicate neurological and mental health concepts in down-to-earth, plain English terms suitable for the patient or the courtroom. In feedback appointments we may also refer patients and their families to additional services to help them better manage the unique challenges they face. Depending on the circumstance this may include resources for helping manage family affairs, programs for loved ones in need of daily activities, nutritional and lifestyle consultation, as well as counseling and support groups.
Our practice understands the importance of seeing a patient as a whole person: cognitive, emotional, and spiritual. Our approach to a patient’s assessment is guided by his or her needs, not by our personal ideology or by financial considerations. We are fiercely committed to our science, to our patients, and to the integrity of the legal process.
